Our PastorsPastor Mark and Pastor Kendra

Pastor Mark

Mark Maddox is an ordained elder in the Global Methodist Church, a veteran, and has served in pastoral ministry for more than 21 years.  Throughout his ministry, he has been passionate about helping people encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and become active disciples who make a difference in the world.

Journey Global Methodist Church is the fourth congregation he has served as pastor and the second new church he has had the privilege of helping start from the ground up. He believes the local church should be a welcoming place where people from every background can experience God’s grace, build authentic relationships, and discover their purpose.

He is married to Kasey who is his partner in life and in ministry. He has two grown daughters and two grandchildren.  Whether preaching on Sunday, meeting with people throughout the week, or simply sharing a cup of coffee, Pastor Mark’s heart is to help people take their next step with Christ and build a church family where everyone is welcomed, valued, and loved.

Pastor Kendra

Kendra Ruckman serves as the Associate Pastor at Journey Global Methodist Church in Las Vegas. As she begins this new season of pastoral ministry, she is completing her seminary education through Wesley Biblical Seminary in preparation for ordination. Kendra has a heart for teaching God’s Word, leading in prayer, encouraging others, and serving her community. She is the proud mother of three adult children, one son and two daughters. who continue to be one of her greatest joys and blessings.

Before coming to faith in Jesus Christ, Kendra often felt that life lacked purpose and direction. Today, she is grateful for the hope she has found in Him and considers it a privilege to serve wherever God leads. Her greatest joy is helping people grow in their faith and discover the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

Why I love what I do (written by Pastor Mark)

Over the years I have seen many people come to have faith in Jesus Christ.  Many of these people never had a church home, had never been baptized, and never thought they would join a church.  While others were disgusted, disenfranchised, or disgruntled with organized religion and swore they would never join another church.

Well, I am right there with you!  Church shouldn’t be about strict rules nor should it be an activist platform for politics.  Church should be about God.  I know, sounds simple, right?

I have a strong passion to make the Good News of Jesus Christ accessible for anyone and everyone.  If you are looking for a fresh start, come join this new ministry!

By the way, this picture to the right is of our Launch Team. It is because of people like them (and many others) that I love what I do!  A group of people who came together, not because they were perfect, not because they have their act together, not even because they have rock solid faith.  These people came together because they are on a journey of faith and they are looking for an authentic traditional worship experience.  We don’t have it all figured out, but let’s go on a journey of faith, together.

Global Methodist Church

We have chosen to call the “Global Methodist Church” our home for several reasons.  One of the main reasons is that I subscribe to the Wesleyan-Arminian theological tradition.   What does that mean?  A lot of different things to different people.  Overall, it means I believe in salvation through God’s grace.

The Global Methodist Church has a focus on “Making Disciples of Jesus Christ” which is exactly what Jesus commissioned us to do in the scriptures.  We have witnessed lives changed by Christ throughout the Western United States as well as throughout the world.  Being with a denomination that is focused on Jesus and one’s journey with God, warms are hearts.
